There are some landscapes that never truly leave us. No matter where life takes us, they remain stitched into our hearts. This painting is inspired by the Mourne Mountains, the place that shaped so many of my happiest childhood memories, where wide open skies, rolling fields and ever-changing light first taught me to notice the beauty in the world around me.
Created with rich, buttery layers of acrylic applied using a palette knife, every sweep of texture is designed to capture the movement, energy and joy of this much loved landscape. The glowing light breaking through the dramatic sky is a reminder that hope has a way of finding us, even after the darkest clouds.
This piece is a celebration of home, of treasured memories, and of the wild, colourful beauty of the Mournes that continues to inspire my work every single day. May it remind you that no matter how far we wander, there are places that forever call us back to ourselves.
