In this piece, Belfast’s City Hall stands regal and resolute, its green copper dome catching the soft northern light. Behind it, like quiet giants on the skyline, the Harland & Wolff cranes - Samson and Goliath - anchor the horizon, reminders of the city’s industrial heart and shipbuilding legacy.
This unlikely pairing speaks to Belfast’s dual spirit: the grandeur of its civic pride and the grit of its working-class roots. It’s a skyline that tells a story- not just of where the city has been, but of how far it’s come.
For me, it captures the tension and harmony of Belfast, old and new, refined and raw. A perfect emblem for my own arrival here, a city of contrasts, and a city becoming.
