‘Where Memories Bloom’ is a joyful, atmospheric original inspired by the beautiful lily pond at Silent Valley, a place woven through so many of my happiest childhood memories.
I spent many days there growing up, surrounded by the Mourne Mountains, and years later I’ve had the joy of returning with my own boys and watching them experience a place that holds such a special place in my heart.
Inspired too by my favourite artist, Claude Monet, I wanted to capture not simply the pond itself, but the feeling of standing beside it, the dancing reflections, floating lilies and wonderful flashes of colour and light across the water.
Layers of turquoise, emerald, lime and deep blue are punctuated with delicate pink water lilies, creating a painting filled with life, light and nostalgia.
‘Where Memories Bloom’ is ultimately a painting about the places that stay with us and the quiet joy of returning to them and creating new memories of our own.
Painted on deep edge canvas with wraparound painting detail and encased in a bespoke black wood floating frame it measures approximately 65 x 65 cm and is ready to hang.
